Rush at Work: Eating Right
Everyone has tough situations at work – a crisis, reporting, deadlines… During such times, one thought pounds in your head: “When this is all over – I will sleep, sleep, sleep…”
During these periods, we think the least about what and when we eat. What containers for food and snacks could we possibly discuss? And counting calories and macronutrients doesn’t even cross our minds! Yet, proper nutrition directly affects both our well-being and our productivity.
To maintain your weight, avoid gaining extra pounds from chocolates and cookies, and simply continue losing weight, you need to follow a few simple rules.
If you have no time for breakfast – just drink 2 glasses of room temperature water on an empty stomach. Water will help your body wake up and start the digestive system. A full stomach will allow you to reach work calmly. At work, you can snack on fruits, yogurt (natural), nuts, or a simple sandwich made with whole grain bread and cheese.
If you are limited in lunch break time but have a little time to run to the cafeteria, cafe, or restaurant, try to get a vegetable salad and soup. The salad will fill your stomach and give a feeling of satiety, while hot soup made from chicken, beef, or vegetable broth will warm you up from the inside.
If one of your colleagues has a birthday, try not to eat cakes and sweets. You can take a plate of treats and then quietly put it back 😉 This way, you’ll avoid extra empty carbs and won’t give rise to gossip. A glass of dry wine is acceptable.
No matter when and where you have dinner – always choose proteins and vegetables. Proteins include chicken, fish, lean meat, as well as eggs and cottage cheese. Vegetables can be anything except potatoes. And no mayonnaises or ketchups!
Always try to bring a snack to work with you. This can be fruits, nuts, dried fruits, kefir, or crispbreads. Such healthy snacks will help you get through the workday and prevent overeating in the evening!
But always remember that in such a strict regime, the body cannot sustain itself for long. Sooner or later, a breakdown will happen, which can lead to anything… Therefore, we strive to allocate our time as effectively as possible to ensure there’s enough for both current tasks and proper healthy nutrition.
Health and a Slim Life!
